Have you seen The Truman Show? I always remember one of the final scenes, in which Truman decides to overcome his fears & sail straight into ocean, alone. The control room thinks it’s ready for him, and so they dial up the weather & place him directly at the center of the unrelenting storm.
But he decides that nothing can stop him, and so he sails straight on. Until the boat bumps into the ‘the end’ of the world as he knows it, and a new life, beyond it, begins.
I think of that scene a lot in life. It simply feels like I’m my own Truman, alone in that boat.
You see, I’m not necessarily one to always do what I’m “supposed to”, and I’m more and more convinced that that’s ok.
