Purple, But Not Rain

Purple is my mom’s favorite color.

I don’t personally love it because it has the tendency to ruin color schemes. Just tough to work with, unless it’s coupled with shades of lavender and blue..

But while dining in Puerto Rico, visiting friend Ann Shteynblik and family, this amazingly purple cocktail concoction was had.

In this particular instance, captured on an iPhone still, purple absolutely worked.

It takes me back to a drink I whipped up ages ago, simply called purple rain drink (here‘s someone else’s take on it, as word seemed to have gotten around). I wasn’t aware of what Blue Curacao was at the time – other than that it had in its name reference to an island – and was amazed at the deep blue color I picked up off the shelf!

In the drink are:

  • Vodka
  • Blue Curacao
  • cranberry juice
  • pineapple juice
  • Grenadine
  • lime juice

Plan on making one? Let me know how it went.
