The Azores gave us everything we didn’t know we needed: trees that looked like they were either waving or plotting, cheese shops that required serious self-control (spoiler: we had none), and traffic jams… caused by cows. And goats. Lots of them.
We stayed in Ponta Delgada, where Grace’s Market became our second home – mostly because of the wall-to-wall cheese. In Furnas, the misty forests felt straight out of a fairy tale, with gnarled trees that seemed just a little too animated.
We even braved a propeller plane (cue nervous laughter) to island hop, surviving bumps that made us appreciate the solid ground, and the local food, even more.
In short: breathtaking views, endless dairy, mild animal-related chaos… and yes, we barely made our flight home. 10/10, would dodge cows again.

A lively and steamy adventure through Furnas, Azores, where bubbling earth, volcanic-cooked meals, and iron-rich hot springs create a magical – and slightly sulfur-scented – experience.

We squeezed in a whirlwind visit to the Gorreana Tea Factory before our flight – sipping fresh brews, marveling at hand-bagging pros, and wishing we had just a little more time to wander the endless green rows.
