(Social media advice)
It sounds like at the start of a bad joke:
“What does a spoon and a physician have in common?”
But you’d be surprised at the usefulness a spoon can bring to promoting a standout physician brand.
It’s just one example of how creative we can be, when seeking to educate the public, and incorporating our day-to-day life as we do so.
(It’s also part of my newly refueled mission to teach physicians the art of social media strategy and the different tips & tricks they can use to stand out. Subscribe to hear more HERE, or check out SoMeDocs to hear from others, too.)
Massaging Our Creativity Muscle
So how do we activate our brain to get it done?
Because when you’re a physician looking for content to post on your social media accounts, it’s fairly common to experience the equivalent of a “writer’s block”.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re not trained to be creative, so the inner workings of social media is a whole new ballgame for us. That’s where people like me come in. I’ve mastered both the world of medicine and the world of the creative realm.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I’m creating resources now that can help physicians think outside the box, and post photos from their every day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Maybe you’ll no longer need a social media service doing it FOR YOU? Though if you need one, get in touch).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take a look at this spoon. I brought it back with me from a trip to Scotland.
Etched inside, it says, “I solemnly swear that with this dessert spoon I am up to no good.”
If I were still practicing, I’d use the spoon in a post, to draw in my audience (‘cause it’s a cool image, no?), and I’d use it to teach a valuable health pearl.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you’re a physician looking for content to post on your social media accounts, it’s fairly common to experience the equivalent of a “writer’s block”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For example, here,
you could caption the photo by asking the audience to swap out the unhealthy sugary dessert we’re used to with a healthier one.
Take it even one step further: Give ‘em an example! Dare them!
Maybe suggest blueberries, or other fruit of some kind (barring conditions that prevent sensitivities, like DM or allergies).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By drawing in the attention of scrollers-by,
through the use of a common, but fab, item you’ve come across, you’ve just shared something helpful where it comes to health.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Don’t forget your disclaimers! Because what we do online should ‘not be taken’ as medical advice..
